Heatwave hits North India: 98 dead in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar

Patna / Lucknow: 98 people have died due to heat waves in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh in scorching conditions in northern India. Statistics show that 54 of them died in Uttar Pradesh and 44 in Bihar.

Intimidation June 15, 16, 17: North India is usually sweltering in summer. The situation is the same this year too. And last June 15, 16, 17 there was severe heat in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. In those days only 400 people were admitted in Palia district of UP. 54 of them died. Many were admitted due to heat-related ailments such as fever, dyspnea and diarrhoea. Most of those admitted are above 60 years of age.

Regarding this, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Jayant Kumar said that there is a very severe heat wave in Palia district. So people are allowed in the hospital.

Many of the hospital’s admissions have already had some sort of ailment, and the heat has worsened it and left them debilitated. Most of the dead were due to heart attack, stroke and diarrhea. He said 23 people died on June 15, 20 on June 16 and 11 as of 4 pm on June 17. In this case, the government will send a medical team from Lucknow to investigate these deaths.

Diwakar Singh, Chief Medical Superintendent of Palia District Hospital said, “Fans, air coolers, AC machines are being used in the hospital to prevent further illness among those admitted with heat wave-related diseases. Also, additional doctors and nurses have been employed in the hospital.”

44 killed in Bihar: The situation in Uttar Pradesh is like this, 44 people died in Bihar due to the effects of heat wave. 44 people have died in the last 24 hours. Of these 44, 35 died in Patna. 19 died in Nalanda Medical College and 16 in Patna Medical College. 11 districts recorded temperature above 44 degrees Celsius yesterday (June 17). A holiday has been announced for schools in capital Patna till June 24 due to extreme heat. It has been advised that holidays can be declared in other districts as per the situation.
