On behalf of Chennai East District DMK, the late former Chief Minister Kalainar centenary opening ceremony public meeting was held yesterday (June 7) at Pulianthop, Chennai. Hindu Religious Endowment Minister and Chennai East District DMK Secretary PK Shekhar Babu had organized this meeting. On both sides of the grand palatial stage, a digital video was broadcast on the projects brought in by the Karunanidhi regime. A DMK flag flew at the top, and ‘Artist 100’ was written in huge lights below it. Images of Karunanidhi along with his wife Dayalu Ammal, Chief Minister Stalin, actors Vijayakanth and Rajinikanth were displayed on a large digital screen at the side of the stage.
DMK Treasurer DR Balu, Principal Secretary KN Nehru, Deputy General Secretaries I. Periyasamy, K. Ponmudi, A. Raza, Kanimozhi, Anthiyur P. Selvaraj, Minister Udayanidhi and many other ministers participated in the event. Allies MDMK General Secretary Vaiko, State Congress President KS Azhagiri, Tamil Nadu Life Rights Party President T. Velmurugan, Kongunadu People’s National Party General Secretary ER Iswaran, Humanity People’s Party President Jawahirullah, Indian Union Muslim League Chairman K. M. Khader Moideen, Indian Communist State Secretary I. Mutharasan, Marxist State Secretary K. Balakrishnan, Liberation Tigers Party leader Thirumavalavan spoke about Karunanidhi in relation to contemporary politics.
