The Marxist Communist Party along with the general public staged a sudden roadblock protest in Thayankudi village under Keehoyur Panchayat Union of Nagapattinam district. After receiving the information, Vethichelvan, District Development Officer of Geezayur rushed to the spot for negotiation.
A woman named Lakshmi from Pallikood Street got into an argument with him when he was talking to the public.
“I walked several times to Geeyoor District Development Office to get basic facilities. But nobody did anything for me. “You threatened me because I am an uneducated woman… If I were a man, you would have saluted,” she said furiously.
Local development officer Vetrichelvan, who saw the woman who argued with him, calmly saluted the woman and said, “I have saluted now. Be quiet for a while, we will talk about the general issue’, he inquired about the village issue.
Even then, the woman said, “Look at the poor people, that’s what you’re in for. I have investigated all the corruptions related to Thaoyankudi panchayat. I know where to go and be popular. Everyone looked at the girl who warned her that I will become famous by going there.
Somehow all the villagers came together and pacified the woman. A video of a village girl arguing and strangling a district development officer is going viral on social media.
