UN pays tribute to peacekeepers who gave their lives. Memorial at Headquarters - Acceptance of resolution proposed by India

New York: The resolution brought by India demanding that a memorial wall be built at the UN headquarters for the peacekeepers who sacrificed their lives has been accepted with the approval of about 190 countries.

The UN peacekeeping force works to bring peace to areas affected by violence. In this, players from various countries have been included. Many of the peacekeepers have lost their lives trying to bring peace. In honor of their sacrifice, the UN decided to build a memorial wall at the UN headquarters. India brought a draft resolution in the General Assembly yesterday.

India’s Permanent Representative to the UN Ruchira Kamboj read the draft resolution. At that time, “more than 10 lakh peacekeepers from 125 countries are working in 71 areas to maintain peace in the world. Even now, more than 80 thousand peacekeepers are working in conflict areas. So far 4,200 soldiers have sacrificed their lives in the peacekeeping mission,” Ruchira Kamboj said.

This draft resolution brought by India’s initiative was adopted by 18 countries including India, Bangladesh, Canada, China, Denmark, Egypt, France, Indonesia, Jordan, Nepal, Rwanda and the United States of America. Presented to the General Assembly. Subsequently, the draft resolution was passed without a vote. About 190 countries supported this resolution.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his gratitude for passing this resolution. In his Twitter post in this regard, he said, “I am happy that the resolution proposed by India in the United Nations General Assembly to build a new memorial wall for the martyred peace soldiers has been passed. This resolution has received the support of 190 countries. Thank you for everyone’s support.”
