Bengaluru: The Karnataka Cabinet has approved the withdrawal of the Prohibition of Religion Act brought by the previous BJP government in Karnataka.
The Karnataka Cabinet meeting was chaired by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah today. In this, various important conclusions have been taken. Notably, the Prohibition of Religious Conversion Act was enacted by the previous BJP government in September last year. Congress, the then opposition party in the assembly, strongly opposed this law. When the Bill was brought in the Assembly, the Congress Party walked out. In this case, the Congress, which has returned to power, has decided to withdraw the law.
Talking to the media, Legislative Affairs Minister Patil said, “The Cabinet discussed the Prohibition of Religion Act. It was decided to withdraw the Prohibition of Religion Act. A bill for this will be tabled in the legislative session on the 3rd of next month.”

The old syllabus which was in force when we were in power will be reintroduced. The supplementary textbooks will be issued with the revised changes. At the same time, new textbooks will not be printed. The books will be delivered to the students in 10-15 days,” he said.
