New Delhi: Defense Minister Rajnath Singh paid tribute to the soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the clash between the two countries in the Kalwan Valley along the Chinese border.
In 2020, there was a clash between Indian and Chinese soldiers in the Galwan Valley, an area adjacent to the Chinese border in Ladakh. In this encounter, 20 Indian soldiers lost their lives. Casualties on the Chinese side were not initially released. Reports released several months later indicated that 5 people had died. However, the actual number is widely believed to be much higher.
On the 3rd anniversary of the attack, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh tweeted, “We are now paying tribute to the brave soldiers who laid down their lives in the Kalwan Valley to protect the country. Their courage, bravery and sacrifice will continue to inspire the generations to come.”
In a message issued by Congress President Mallikarjuna Kharge, “The country pays tribute to the soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the Kalwan Valley three years ago. The Modi government is responsible for not changing the situation along the Line of Control. We have lost 26 out of 65 observation posts. We have tried to raise this issue in Parliament many times. But the Modi government feels that people should not know the truth.
The reason for this is PM Modi’s praise for China in the Kalwan issue. As a responsible opposition party, we continue to reveal the truth for the unity of the country and against China’s expansionist policy,” he said.
Ahead of the 3rd year of the Kalwan Valley conflict, top military officials will hold a meeting in Leh tomorrow. Northern Regional Commander Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi and another Lt Gen Rashim Pali are expected to attend. In this meeting, the security strategies to be adopted in the areas along the Chinese border are to be discussed.
