Humane approach is not weakness - Army warns women who shelter rioters in Manipur

Imphal: Army issues warning to women fighting in support of rioters in Manipur It has warned women not to support the rioters considering their humane approach as their weakness.

Starting in May.. Manipur has been a hotbed of violence ever since it started last May. The reason was the conflict between the Medei community and the Kugi community. Various armed groups are also involved.

The Kuki tribe has been protesting the inclusion of the Methei community, which constitutes 53 percent of Manipur’s population, under the Scheduled Tribe category. The first peace rally last May saw clashes between the two factions. Then it turned violent and spread across the state for two months.

Why the resistance? The Medhei people of Manipur are the majority ethnic group. They live in the plains of the state. Their flag flies there in power and authority. In terms of topography, Manipur has less share of plains and more of hilly areas. Malapangu is inhabited by Neduka, Kuki and Nagar tribes. The Kugi people, who have 32 sub-divisions, are backward with no chance of progressing as much as the Medei people.

In this case, the Kugi people protested against the right voice of the Methei people. The Medhei people, who are already occupying everything and progressing, fear that they will be further weakened if they are included in the tribal list. This is the cause of the struggle between the two parties.

As a shield for armed groups: In this case, many armed groups are active in this struggle. They are the cause of violence. Arresting these people is the sole insistence of all the security forces including army, paramilitary and police that riots can be controlled. But women are a hindrance to this.

Women Guarding Rioters: KYKL in Manipur (Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup) The army arrested 12 members of the armed group. But women gathered in thousands and protested against it. Due to this, it was not possible to go to various areas and carry out peace-keeping operations, so the army handed over the 12 arrested people again. In this case, last night the Spear Corps of the Indian Army shared a video on its Twitter page to warn women who are a shield to rioters in the field. It is titled The True Background of Manipur Women’s Peace Struggle.

Humanity is not weakness: In that video, thousands of women gathered and protested in this area last Saturday. The main road through which the Assam Rifles platoon can move with its logistics is being bulldozed. Women stand for it. Similarly, in many vehicles like cars, ambulances, tractors surrounded by women, the rioters are leaving Itham safely with weapons. Women stand in the field only in support of rioters who disturb the peace like this. We approach them with humanity. So that doesn’t mean we are weak.

Obstruction of security forces is not only illegal but also a crime against maintaining law and order in the state. Therefore, Army is requesting people from all walks of life to help the forces fighting for the peace of Manipur day and night. Help us to help Manipur mentioned.
