Madurai: The latest example of humanity not dying yet is Madurai Dhopur Government Chest Hospital and the doctors and staff working there.

The doctors and staff of the government hospital embraced the helpless North State girl child and her younger brother after her mother died at the place where she came for treatment due to ill health and raised them like their own children and are now going to marry the girl. The girl has been arranged for the procession at her parents’ place and this incident has caused a stir. That blessed baby name is ‘Rita’.

Rita’s mother Rosbek hails from Madurai. She fell in love and married her husband while working in an IT company in Bangalore. From there, both of them went to Delhi and joined a company there and happily started a new life. As proof of their family life, ‘Rita’ and Alex are born. Over time, there is a family dispute between husband and wife. The husband had an affair with another woman and married her for the second time and brought her home.

He tortured Rosbeck and his two children in order to have children with his second wife and take care of them. The husband, who had to knock, stood with his hands tied and looked amused. At some point he dies of ill health when he realizes his mistake. Rosbeck could no longer live in that house.

He came to his native Madurai 8 years ago with two children. When Rosbek fell ill at Madurai railway station, he lay down in the railway station premises. His children Rita and Alex were both born and brought up in Delhi so they do not know Tamil. The language they speak, some people who only know Hindi in a way that others do not understand, heard their story and admitted their mother Rosbek to Madurai Government Rajaji Hospital. Doctors diagnosed him with a severe TB infection and referred Rosbeck to Dhoppur Cardiovascular Hospital, which specializes in TB treatment.

Even though the doctors of Dhoppur tried hard, they could not save ‘Rosbek’. The doctors, nurses and staff of Dhoppur Government Hospital embraced the two children who had lost their mother and their only supporter and were helpless at the place where they were looking for their relatives. But when the children were also tested it was confirmed that they too had contracted tuberculosis from their mother. Both of them were treated at the hospital for 8 months and recovered from the disease. During this treatment, the doctors and staff showed affection and care as if they were their own children, and the children became close to them without knowing the pain of losing their mother.

Both the children learned Tamil well by getting used to talking to the doctor, patients and staff. Dhoppur Government Chest Hospital became a home for the children. After recovering from the disease, the social welfare department provided accommodation to both of them in the government hostel. However, during the school holidays, both of them would rush to the hospital. In this case, when Rita completed her 10th standard and turned 18 years old, she came back to Dhoppur Government Hospital. Unwilling to go anywhere else, he decided to stay in the hospital.

Touched by his affection, the doctors talked to the hospital administration and arranged for him to stay and work in the hospital by giving him a temporary assignment to help tuberculosis patients. At present, when Rita is 22 years old, the hospital doctors and staff have arranged for her to get married.

They recently got engaged to Joseph, a young man who works at a hotel in Madurai, who lost his parents like Rita. The wedding is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, June 14. Rita’s younger brother Alex is studying at ITI. At the hospital, ‘Rita’, the patients who are familiar with her younger brother, the doctors and staff of Dhoppur are printing wedding invitations and inviting others to come to the wedding ceremony and congratulate the bride and groom.

The hospital doctors have bought a one and a half cent flat, 6 pounds of jewelry, a bed and a bureau for the bride Rita in order to build a house near Avaniyapuram. They are going to give these serial items after the marriage.

Madurai government doctor ‘Dean’ Rathinavelu is the main figure behind the humanity of Dhoppur Hospital doctors, staff, and the children of deceased patients who are embraced and brought up and married today. He has given permission to do the marriage work and help for the girl and has laid the foundation for her future life by giving her a temporary job in the hospital where she was treated.

“Dean” Rathinavelu said, “Rita’s married life is an example of how much government hospital doctors love their patients.”
