
Ahmedabad: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, his party’s Rajya Sabha MP, lashed out at his sarcastic and disparaging criticism of the Prime Minister’s graduation. An Ahmedabad court has directed the duo to appear in person on July 13 in the criminal defamation case filed against Sanjay Singh.
In late March, the Gujarat High Court ruled that it was not necessary to provide details of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s college degrees in a case related to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s request.
It also imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 on petitioner Arvind Kejriwal.
In this regard Kejriwal and his party MP. Sanjay Singh also criticized. A criminal defamation case was filed in an Ahmedabad court on behalf of its registrar Piyush Patel, alleging that it tarnished the reputation of Gujarat University.
The court ordered Kejriwal and Sanjay Singh to appear on June 7, stating that there is a pretext for the charge in this case.
The case came up for hearing yesterday in the court before Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Jayesh Sowatia. Then their lawyers appeared for Kejriwal and Sanjay Singh.
Both Arvind Kejriwal and Sanjay Singh filed petitions seeking exemption from appearing in the case and seeking case documents.
Must appear on 13th July: While the judge accepted the plea, the MP pointed to a circular to expedite the case against the MLAs. He also questioned when the two accused would appear in court.
Both Kejriwal and Sanjay Singh will appear on July 13 to record their defense, their lawyers said.
Subsequently, the judge ordered both Kejriwal and Sanjay Singh to appear in person on July 13.
