Knee: The Mandi-Kullu National Highway, which was closed due to landslides, was reopened last night (Monday) after 20 hours. However, tourists continue to face difficulties as many roads remain closed.
Heavy rains in Himachal Pradesh have caused floods and landslides in many places. Due to this, the traffic on the National Highway between Mandi-Kullu was paralyzed from Sunday evening. About 200 tourists were stranded in the middle of the road. This national highway was opened last night after 20 hours. However, as more than 300 roads have been closed due to landslides, travelers who have gone to popular tourist destinations are stranded at various places and unable to get out. In this situation, it has been informed that the situation will continue as the orange alert has been issued for Himachal Pradesh.
Current status of landslides and roads:
> The Mandi-Kullu National Highway, which was closed for over 20 hours since Sunday evening, was reopened on Monday night.
> Traffic on Thandi-Killar State Highway 26 was disrupted on Tuesday morning due to flash floods in Daret Nalla.
> Only one lane of the Chandigarh-Manali National Highway in Manali was repaired and opened on Monday.
> The Mandi-Bando road, which was blocked for 6 miles due to landslides, was reopened on Monday night.
Himachal Pradesh facing impacts: Bagiput area of Mandi district near Parashar Lake has been badly affected due to flash floods in low lying areas due to heavy rains. A cloudburst also occurred near Bahi bridge in Mandi area. Similarly, landslides occurred in various areas on Panto-Mandi National Highway from Charmili to Sathmili.
Orange Alert: The Indian Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for the state. A total of 301 roads have been closed in the state. The government has set a target of opening 180 roads on Monday. Target to open 15 roads today. Meanwhile, flood alert has been issued for Sirmaur, Solan, Shimla, Kullu and Kangra areas.
