Sunday last week ..when it was drizzling moderately.. while eating hot peanut sundae with (shredded) coconut and mango and mustard curry leaves and listening to the song of Isijnani (Ok Jeevan called Ok Jeevan Dhoottu…) a close friend (Rohini) came He is 50+ like me.
She held out the sundae to the person who came.
What Rohini? why are you crying Asking that is the delay. She let out what was in her mind like an open flood.
“Adi, I don’t like to live,
Nothing happens at home because of my wish, everything is their wish, I am like a ‘boomboom cow’ who listens to everything they say and intervenes. I couldn’t do any of the activities I liked. I try and do everything but the net result is zero..’ something sad. “Mantai is falling in my mind,” she lamented saying something new.
After relaxing a bit, I handed him builder coffee and made him drink it.

“We used to live in fear of our mother-in-law. Today we live in fear of our daughter-in-law.

“There are daughters-in-law who like their mother-in-law very much and are friends with them. There are also mothers-in-law who treat their daughter-in-law as a friend. I am not talking about this exception. Is this all a big deal, Rohini, are you crying for this? It’s not a big deal. Everything is caused by our mind. Just think about it and you will understand!” Many people who talk on the platform about ‘women’s rights, women’s progress’ and think that the daughter-in-law should go to work and earn and maintain the family management.
Women are going to work amidst so many hardships, but we cannot do their work, but what is wrong with helping in the housework? I am doing all the work.. Are you saying that she is carrying the bag?!..
I will look at it from a slightly different angle. They work for their husband, their family, their children, they work for their own family. They strive to stand on their own feet. Think about it all. Everything you do is not a big deal.
It is only because you are at home that they are able to go to work happily and with peace of mind. So, take pride in thinking that a change is being made in a society because of the work you do.
Apart from that, whatever work you do, enjoy it and do it. ‘Remember often that I am doing this for the happiness of my children’ and then where comes ‘ego and…pains.’ Nothing is impossible if you try and try.
50 plus doesn’t mean you have to eat their cooking.
The kitchen is in your hands..
Cookware is near you
Do what you want to eat and be happy. Think about who tied your hand..
So sorrows and joys are in our hands.
After saying that, Adi, give me a bowl of sundal too! I asked happily and kissed her hands for support.
Ok Adi I am leaving it is time for her to leave the office. I am going to make her favorite banana fritters and coconut chutney along with my favorite potato fritters.
She said to all of us, try to do any job with happiness and satisfaction. There is life in small love. Existence is a life, live that life happily! Let’s make our daughter-in-law happy! Happiness is in our hands!
