The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has been making several changes in the textbooks. Changes sentences, deletes some sections etc.
Apart from that many sections like theory of evolution, cold war, industrial revolution, contribution of agriculture in Indian economy have been removed from the textbooks. As a result, 33 academicians who are members of the Textbook Development Committee have written to NCERT to remove their names from the textbooks.
In their joint letter to NCERT Director Dinesh Sakhlani, they said, “Various revisions have been made from the original book to the current book, making the textbooks look different. Thus we feel it is difficult to associate them with our name by saying that they are books that we have created. We believe this puts our constructive partnership at risk.
