New Delhi: Congress’s Jairam Ramesh today (June 16) slammed Prime Minister Modi over the news that the Nehru Memorial Museum and Library (NMML) would be renamed as the Prime Minister’s Museum. He has said “meanness and vindictiveness is called Modi”.
Jairam Ramesh, Congress MP and general secretary of the party’s media wing, posted a message on his Twitter page on Friday. It said, “Indolence and vindictiveness in its name Modi. For the past 59 years, the Nehru Memorial Museum and Library has been an international intellectual landmark and a treasure island of books and documents. It will henceforth be known as the Prime Minister’s Museum. To erase and hide the name and legacy of the political architect of the Indian nation “Modi will do anything. A special meeting of the NMML Society chaired by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday took the decision to remove Nehru’s name from the campus. It was decided that the Nehru Memorial Museum and Library would henceforth be called the Prime Minister’s Museum.
PM Modi is the President of NMML Society. Apart from him, Home Minister Amit Shah, ministers Anurag Thakur, Dharmendra Pradhan, G Kishan Reddy, Nirmala Sitharaman and others are members.

The Nehru Memorial Museum, located in the historic Deen Murthy Complex in the national capital, Delhi, was established in 1964 after the death of India’s first Prime Minister, Nehru. It was started by the then President Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan.
It may be recalled that Deen Murthy Bhawan was the official residence of former Prime Minister Nehru from 1948 to May 27, 1964. However, last year i.e. 2022, in April it was re-opened as the Prime Minister’s Memorial Museum dedicated to all Prime Ministers.
Pettiness & Vengeance, thy name is Modi. For over 59 years Nehru Memorial Museum & Library (NMML) has been a global intellectual landmark and treasure house of books & archives. It will henceforth be called Prime Ministers Museum & Society. What won’t Mr. Modi does to distort,…
