
Bengaluru: A Bengaluru court has issued notices to former Congress president Rahul Gandhi, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar in a case of promoting BJP as a 40 percent corrupt government.
Karnataka BJP General Secretary Krishna Prasad filed a petition in the Bengaluru City Sessions Court on May 9. In it, “When the Karnataka assembly elections were approaching, the Congress published an advertisement in the newspapers calling the BJP government a 40 percent corrupt government. There was a complaint against the BJP government for looting Rs. 1.5 lakh crore without any evidence.
He demanded that action should be taken against senior Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, Siddaramaiah and Karnataka Congress President DK Shivakumar under sections 499 and 500 of the Indian Penal Code as this has tarnished the BJP’s reputation.
The Bengaluru Municipal Sessions Court, which considered this petition, sent notices to Rahul Gandhi, Siddaramaiah and TK Shivakumar to reply. The court adjourned the case saying that the hearing will be held on this petition on July 27.
